Adjusting your routine as temperatures drop and humidity shifts

As the seasons shift, your skin responds to changes in temperature, humidity and environment. What felt balanced a few weeks ago may now feel dry, tight or reactive. Knowing how to adjust your routine during this transition is key to keeping skin healthy.

Colder air and lower humidity pull moisture from the skin and weaken the skin barrier. Indoor heating adds to the dehydration, leaving skin dull, tight or more sensitive than usual. These changes are common, but they call for a more thoughtful, supportive approach.

Hydrate from the Inside

Hydration, both internal and topical, is the most important factor in winter skin health. Small daily habits make a real difference:

  • Start your day with a large glass of water.
  • Add water-rich foods such as cucumbers.
  • Try chia seeds in a smoothie, or soaked overnight in your favorite nut milk with a touch of vanilla.

Hydrate from the Outside

How you use hydrating serums matters. Hyaluronic acid draws moisture into the skin, but it must be sealed in with a moisturizer. Without that final step, the moisture can evaporate and leave skin even drier over time.

This is also the time to look at your products. Your summer routine may not give your skin enough support now, and a richer, more nourishing moisturizer may be what it needs.

Clinical Insight

As we move into colder months, keeping skin hydrated is essential for both how it functions and how it looks. Treatments such as Hydrodermabrasion and customized facials replenish moisture while supporting the skin barrier.

Adding a hydration booster such as Surge helps the skin hold moisture, supports elasticity and softens the visible signs of aging when layered under your moisturizer.
